“I’m Never Changing Who I Am” | Dallas Boudoir Photographer

Today is a short post… I thought I would tell you about some of my favorite food blogs. :) People always ask me what I eat as a vegetarian (& even more when I tell them that I try to eat a vegan diet the majority of the time.) Next time some one asks, I can give them this link and tell them to look at all of the tasty vegan ideas. :) I have tried so much more food since I stopped eating meat & actually enjoy cooking now. What are your favorite food blogs??

Oh, if you missed my tweet yesterday – I updated my portfolio, so you should check it out!

Wow, I can’t believe it’s been 2 weeks since we talked about our favorite movies… Today I’m gonna tell you about 10 books that are on my to-read list. :) I love reading and everything that goes in to picking out a great book. I can spend hours in a book store (& usually go at least once a week.) I also love getting on Goodreads and checking out what my friends are reading (this is usually what I do when I’m in desperate need of a book ASAP). I love hard backs, paper backs, & reading on my kindle. I’m not picky and I like to switch it up from time to time. Currently I’m reading 1 from each, a paper back, hard back, and an e-book. My favorite part about reading is that I can relax my mind and visit somewhere completely new, think about something in a new way, hear something from another persons perspective.

10 Books I Want To Read (right now)

1. Fifty Shades of Grey by E.L. James – ok seriously, who doesn’t want to read this book. Everyone is telling me I have to give it a chance. I was hopelessly sucked in to Twilight when they first came out so I’m scared if I start reading this series that I won’t get anything done until I have devoured every page.
2. Insurgent (Divergent #2) by Veronica Roth
3. Bitterblue (Graceling #3) by Kristin Cashore
4. City of Lost Souls (The Mortal Instruments #5) by Cassandra Clare
My husband always makes fun of me because the first section I look at when we visit Barnes & Noble is the “Teen Paranormal Romance” section. It is definitely one of my guilty pleasures. :)
5. The Drowned Cities by Paolo Baciagalupi – Another type of book I love to read are Young Adult Dystopian novels and Paolo Baciagalupi’s Ship Breaker was one of my favorite books I read last year. This is the companion novel that was just released.
6. The Casual Vacancy by J.K. Rowling – seriously, who isn’t excited for something new by J.K. Rowling?
7. The War of Art by Stephen Pressfield – This has been recommended to me by several of my artist friends. I’ll be honest, I bought it a couple of months ago and it has been sitting on my desk by my iMac just waiting to be read… I think I’ll try to read that this weekend. I’ll make sure to post an Instagram picture of me reading it so you can keep me accountable. ;)
8. Main Street Vegan by Victoria Moran – The past few years I have really started to try and take care of my body and treat it right & one of the ways I do that is by eating a plant based, whole foods diet. I’m not perfect, I am a vegetarian (living in North Dallas, not many places to eat) but try to eat mainly vegan. This book looks like it will have some great advice on how to live a vegan lifestyle so I definitely want to check it out.
9. A Shade of Red by Alyson Fox – This just looks awesome. Check it out. :)
10. The Book of Doing by Allison Arden – I love books that help stimulate your creativitiy and get ya thinking. This book does exactly that. It has a daily prompt for you. I just started this a couple days ago, so I am on “Throw a Party” :)

Ok, those are (some of) the books on my short list of what I want to read… What are you reading or starting soon? I can always use some more suggestions!

“I Know I’m Sleepin Cause This Dream’s Too Amazing” | Dallas Boudoir

Hey, my loves! I am working on a few changes to my website and blog in the next month, starting with an overhaul of my ‘About Whitley’ page. I met up with Abbie McFarland in McKinney a few months ago to take some new head shots for my blog. I wanted to post a few more though so I am doing a whole post about them. {{To see even more, head over to my Facebook page.}}

If you are looking for a newborn, family, or college senior photographer in the North DFW area, you should check Abbie out! Her work is gorgeous (plus she shoots film like me.)

Make sure you keep reading after these pictures for another change I’m making!

Here’s another big change that is coming to the blog: every Wednesday I am going to post a list of my favorite things! It will change every week and will probably be pretty random, but some of the lists I’ve been thinking will be my favorite music, books, photographers, iPhone apps, lingerie stores, & beauty products. I want you to get to know me a bit more, and I think that this is the perfect way to introduce myself. :) I am really hoping to learn more about you as well and I hope that you will share your favorites with me in the comments below! I’m gonna start this week with an easy one:

My Top 10 Favorite Movies:

1. Step Brothers – Will Ferrel will be on this list a few times. :)

2. Pineapple Express – my husband and I watch these first two movies at least once a month each, sometimes more often. :)

3. Hot Rod – I have such a crush on Andy Samburg (ok, and maybe Isla Fisher too).
4. Role Models – Are you seeing a trend here? I love funny movies. :)

5. Due Date – Zach Galifinakis, ahhh he’s hilar.
6. Sweeney Todd – seriously LOVE.
7. Harry Potter – um, I can’t pick one & I can’t take up my whole list with all of them. I would say the first movie and the last movies are my favorites.

8. Stranger Than Fiction – I love Will Ferrel and this movie is one of my favorites of his.
9. Iron Man – really all of the comic book movies (even though I’ve never picked up a comic book in my life… I swear :) )
10. Our Idiot Brother – Paul Rudd is another of my favorite actors. He has had some awesome movies come out recently. I saw Our Idiot Brother and Wonderlust both multiple times at the theater. :)

I feel like I would be lying if I didn’t mention that I have watched the Twilight series too many times to count and saw the first 3 at the midnight premieres. Now you know my embarrassing secret. :)

So tell me, what are your favorite movies?

“Heart it Races” | North Dallas Boudoir

Ok, switching it up today with a couple images from a different session and a different state. I live in Dallas but travel home to visit my friends in family in the Tulsa area. So just so you know, I am scheduling sessions in both Dallas and Tulsa areas. :) If you have been following my work since the beginning, you may recognize my gorgeous model as I have taken her pictures a few times before. I love when I get a call from her because I know we are going to create beautiful pictures together.

This has been one of my favorite boudoir sessions to date because c’mon, those eyes and hair cut! How sexy, but romantic does she look? Like an old school hollywood movie star. This shoot was done at her cute apartment in downtown Bartlesville. How cute is it? Next week make sure to check back because I’ve got a few pictures that show off how cute her kitchen is decorated in a very indie, unique sort of way.
